Subscribers: Need a particular module, or have an idea?  (United Kingdom)
Let us know. We'll weigh up the pros and cons and decide it other subscribers will benefit from it, and if so, we'll try to schedule it onto the product Roadmap.

Some of our best modules are the result of subscriber requests: for example, the Smart-Thinker HomePage! And we don't care how silly the idea sounds - lets discuss it!

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Subscribers: Need a particular module, or have an idea?  (Netherlands)

Hello Rod.

One thing i never see is a "countdown"...
What it should do:

counting down amounts of time (hours, days, minutes years etc.) it would be nice if i can say countdown 3 days from this moment or opposite: countdown to a specific point in time (future) It should consider timezones etc. (so saturday 2 PM CET will automatic calculated the time for another time zone.) It also should be able to change "state" after reaching the time. (this could be as simple as a text #1 before reaching the timepoint changing in a text #2 after passing the time.

nice options would be: "time to go" and after that "time passed since" that point. Another nce option would be a mail (warning me that the time has come) or more advanced a early warning on a pre-selected interval. (1 day before, 2 hours before and finnaly 1 hour before and last 10 minutes every 10 minutes... a little bit overdone, but the idea is clear.)

The alert should be combined with a role (so you can subscribe to the role)

Where to use: i run games and we always have problems in getting the time zones right, so its difficult to get all people online at the same time. (worldwide)

Another use could be alerting my customers via a mailing that the server will be down for maintenance. (and they can check on the countdown how much time there will be left)

Paul.

Re: Subscribers: Need a particular module, or have an idea?  (United States)

Hello,  I need an add event module where anyone can add an event and have it show up on remote lists, but can't delete or edit anyone elses event.  I could even use one where once the event was submitted they couldn't come back and edit it if thats what it took to keep it from being edited by everyone.

also and I may not have figured out homepage correctly, but I need a module where a person can register, get their page and edit ONLY it and have it be publicly viewable without generating a link in the menus.  Would also be nice if it would generate a link on a remote alphabetical links list page automaticaly.  I have only been using DNN for about a month or so.  I am barely a webmaster and am only working on one site at http://Nashvillerock.net  I tried the homepage module out but all the links generated in the menu list got impossible, hidden just meant they were there on my host setting, but man it was wide.  So currently I don't have a register feature for the site.  There is nothing to register for.  Thanks
