Problems with Quotes  (Thailand)
Modified By Julia resh on 11/9/2005 2:45:45 AM)

Downloaded , intalled everything's was fine, placed he module on the page - fine, but when trying to add a quote I get
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Parser Error: 'QuoteCategory' is not a valid value for attribute 'ComboType'. It must be of enum type

Downloaded this module again through link  ( not download button ) adn it seems to work, but I get a lot of runtime errors/ syntax errors....

but besides that is it possible to create my own categories ( instead of preset Quotes, Testimonials and etc... ) and not show the Context, submitted ( said ) by, the date of submission and how many times veiwed.... I would really like to have nothing else but the quote itself... since I am planning to use this module to let  other know some usefull stuff...

Re: Problems with Quotes  (United Kingdom)

Hello Julia

It looks like you got an old version of the Smart-Thinker Framework .dll - was this the only (and therefore last ST) module you installed? IF not, please reinstall it again as it has the latest assembly (this happens because the core DNN installed overwrites assemblies in the \bin without checking if it is a newer version or not)

Let me know if that is the problem please.

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Problems with Quotes  (United Kingdom)

Sorry - didn't even see the questions at the bottom ;)

Right - currently the only way to NOT show that information would be to hack the .ascx file - I think you may be able to get away with adding Visible="false" to some of those items - you'd have to test it to see (it won't require a recompile). For the next version (unfortunately a while away) I am going to implement a templating solution so you can define the HTML and tokens to display.

Quote Categories - hmmm - you can try adding a new category in the List - this MAY work - again - this was a quick release so I did not have time to test extending it - at the very least you could EDIT the list descriptions (dont change the values) to the Categories you want - they are only logical groupings (this will definitely work - use standard Host List functionality editing)

With regards to the actual error - if this is the last ST module you installed then that is odd! Can you please send me the SmartThinker.DNN.Modules.ModuleFramework.dll in the \bin directory so that I can examine it please?

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Problems with Quotes  (United Kingdom)
(From Private Message:)

Sorry to hear you having problems - I know the feeling when things don't go right!

Lets break the problems up to make them easier to address:

The syntax errors you are receiving:
"I get "Either pick a name or write one" even when there is a name written but not from the list of users...."
If you don't select a website user, you need to select "Other" (at the top of the list) - have you got this selected? If you have selected a user AND written a name then this error should appear.

What other syntax errors are you getting?

So you are not getting this error message anymore? It must have been caching the old version of the code. (Yes, for some reason the core download module behaves differently if you click on the download button or the title - I have logged this with the core - very strange).
Unfortunately the module is designed with more complex Use Cases in mind - hence the additional info - there's not much I can do about that I'm afraid but I will think about a simpler interface for the next version.

So from what I can see you can add items now? Is there anything not functionally working still?

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Problems with Quotes  (Israel)
Hi
Great to see the new version is out.
If I will upgrade the old module, all the content will remain ?
What about the categories ?

Re: Problems with Quotes  (United Kingdom)
Hi Lior

Yes, all content will remain as is!
Categories can be editing in the Hosts List functionality as usual.

Look forward to your feedback...

Thanks

Re: Problems with Quotes  (United Kingdom)
Hi Julia

If you are not getting the error then I do not need the .dll file as it is working correctly?
As far as I can tell it is working as expected? Have you found any errors in it? I'm afriad you wont be able to hide the -

Thanks
